Hyperscalers Lock In Q1 2027 DRAM Pricing Ahead of Schedule

According to the latest channel survey, several hyperscale cloud providers have signed new agreements with memory manufacturers, accepting DRAM procurement prices for Q1 2027 above Q4 2026 levels.

It is the first time in this upcycle that buyers have proactively accepted higher pricing and locked in forward contracts, indicating a preference for long-term agreements to smooth supply and budget volatility.

Over the same period, average DRAM prices rose 20%-30% quarter-on-quarter in Q3, while NAND increased by more than 15%. The 2026 DRAM supply sufficiency ratio stands at roughly 79%, below the 100% breakeven line, with a gradual return to balance expected in 2027.

For buyers, the takeaway: a higher share of long-term contracts helps reduce spot volatility, but does not guarantee equal allocation for all customers. Mid- and small-volume demand still requires early planning of channels and inventory.
